Lesson 3 of 4 · Finding Openings5 min

Learning About Different Jobs

There are more kinds of jobs than most people realize. Learning what's out there helps you spot ones that match your strengths and interests.

In this lesson

  • Name several kinds of jobs.
  • Connect job types to your interests.

Some common job areas

  • Stores. Stocking shelves, organizing, cashier, greeting customers.

  • Food. Prep, dishwashing, packing orders, cleaning.

  • Offices. Filing, data entry, sorting mail, scanning.

  • Outdoors. Landscaping, animal care, deliveries, warehouse work.

  • Helping. Cleaning, library help, assisting at programs.

Match jobs to you

Look back at your strengths and interests. If you like being calm and careful, a stockroom or office task might fit. If you like being active, an outdoor or warehouse job might fit.

Quick check
