Lesson 3 of 4 · The Interview6 min

Answering Common Questions

Most interviews use the same kinds of questions. If you think about your answers ahead of time and practice, you'll feel much more ready.

In this lesson

  • Know common interview questions.
  • Prepare simple, honest answers.

Questions you might hear

  • 'Tell me about yourself.' Say a little about your strengths and what you enjoy.

  • 'Why do you want this job?' Share what interests you about it.

  • 'What are you good at?' Name a strength and a quick example.

  • 'How do you handle a problem?' Give a simple example of solving something.

Tips for answering

  • It's okay to take a moment to think before you answer.
  • Keep answers short and honest.
  • Give a quick example when you can.
  • If you don't understand, ask them to say it again.

Ask a question too

Near the end, you can ask something like, 'What would a normal day look like?' or 'When will you decide?' It shows you're interested.

Quick check

Try these to see what you remember. There are no grades — pick an answer to see how you did.
