Interviews
Lesson 1 of 4 · Get Ready4 min

What to Expect in an Interview

An interview is a friendly meeting. The employer asks questions to learn about you, and you can ask questions too. Knowing the steps makes it less scary.

In this lesson

  • Know the basic parts of an interview.
  • Understand it's a two-way conversation.

How an interview usually goes

  • Greeting. You say hello, shake hands (if you're comfortable), and sit down.

  • Questions. The employer asks about you, your skills, and the job.

  • Your turn. You can ask a question or two about the job.

  • Ending. They tell you what happens next, and you thank them.

It goes both ways

An interview isn't a test you pass or fail. It's a chance for both of you to see if the job is a good fit. You're allowed to learn about them, too.

Quick check

Try these to see what you remember. There are no grades — pick an answer to see how you did.
