Eating Well
Lesson 2 of 4 · Food Basics4 min

Hunger, Fullness, and Water

Your body sends signals when it needs food or water. Learning to notice these signals helps you eat the right amount and feel your best.

In this lesson

  • Notice signs of hunger and fullness.
  • Know how much water to drink.

Signs you are hungry

  • Your stomach feels empty or growls.
  • You feel low on energy or grumpy.
  • It's hard to focus.

Signs you are full

Eat slowly so your body has time to tell you it's full. Stop when you feel comfortable, not stuffed. It's okay to save the rest for later.

Drink water

Water keeps your body working well. Most people feel best with about 6 to 8 cups a day. You need more on hot days or after exercise.

Quick check

Try these to see what you remember. There are no grades — pick an answer to see how you did.
