Lesson 1 of 4 · Why and How to Move4 min

Why Moving Your Body Helps

Exercise is any movement that gets your body going. It does a lot more than build muscles — it also helps your mind. Let's look at why it matters.

In this lesson

  • Name two ways moving your body helps you.
  • Know that any movement counts.

How moving helps

  • Your body. It makes your heart, muscles, and bones stronger.

  • Your mood. It can lower stress and worry, and help you feel happier.

  • Your sleep. People who move during the day often sleep better at night.

  • Your energy. It sounds odd, but moving gives you more energy over time.

Any movement counts

You don't need to run a race or lift heavy weights. Walking, dancing, cleaning, stretching, and playing all count.

The best exercise is the one you actually enjoy and will keep doing.

Quick check
